Jamie Fine

Graduate Learning Consultant & Peer Academic Coach

Jamie Fine

Jamie (she/her) is a third year PhD student in the Modern Thought & Literature program. Her research investigates the ways in which law is transposed to adolescents through contemporary young adult literature and graphic narratives. Jamie also holds an MFA in Young Adult Fiction from the City College of New York, a JD from the University of Connecticut, a BA in English/Psychology from Wellesley College and a certificate in TESOL. She previously taught and tutored academic and creative writing internationally as well as in the CUNY system and practiced as a litigation attorney. Jamie really enjoys helping others troubleshoot issues with productivity, effective goal-setting (and completing!), as well as navigating the complex world of academia, especially in relation to interdisciplinary thought, research, and writing. She is very invested, particularly here at Stanford, in the relationship between academic success and mental and emotional well-being, which she has found challenging but not insurmountable. As a Peer Learning Consultant, she is excited to help other students succeed with these challenges and find balance, too. In addition to teaching, reading, learning, and writing, Jamie enjoys all things YA Lit, hiking, yoga, and the beach, and is passionate about social justice causes, legal equity and advocacy, and (of course) her friends and family.
