Tutoring
Neurodiversity-Focused Tutoring
Our Neurodiversity-Focused Tutoring Program offers tutoring for students with ADHD, learning disabilities (LD), and/or autism. Through the CTL Neurodiversity-Focused Tutoring Program, participants are matched with a dedicated tutor who provides weekly, individualized tutoring for undergraduate-level courses throughout the quarter.
The Fall 2024 Request form is now CLOSED. Please check back week 1 of Winter quarter for the Winter 2025 Request form.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the neurodiversity-focused tutoring program, students must be referred by their Disability Advisor at the Office of Accessible Education (OAE). The Disability Advisor verifies that the student is registered with the OAE with documented learning differences/disabilities (LD), ADHD, or autism. You can find more information on how to schedule an appointment with an OAE advisor here: OAE | CONNECT
Getting started
- Fill out the Request Form. Submit this form to let us know what course(s) you are interested in receiving tutoring.
- Request a referral. If you haven’t already, request a referral from your Disability Advisor.
- Wait for participation confirmation. You will receive information on the next steps once we receive your referral and verify tutoring availability.
- In the meantime, we strongly encourage you to schedule an Academic Coaching appointment with a Neurodiversity-Focused Academic Coach. You can learn how to make the most of tutoring sessions, explore other services available through CTL, and discuss any other academic skills-related topics you would like, such as:
- managing time and responsibility
- improving attention and productivity
- dealing with distractions and procrastination.
- Get connected with a tutor. Once you’ve completed the above steps, you can get connected with a tutor.
Program Requirements
Tutors offer personalized sessions to meet learners where they are, guide students in navigating course concepts, and share subject specific study strategies.
To be mindful of the tutor's schedule, we ask that students cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours notice, except in cases of medical or disability-related emergencies. Repeated last-minute cancellations or absences from tutoring sessions may result in a student’s dismissal from the program. Read the program agreement for more information.
Additional Information
As part of the program, students will be able to receive weekly tutoring from a dedicated tutor for up to four hours per week and for up to two classes per quarter. Students are able to request tutoring for any of the courses CTL is currently supporting (full course list below) and we will do our best to fulfill tutoring requests for core and introductory courses in Data Science, Philosophy, and other statistics-based courses in Sociology and Symbolic Systems.
Students can also book general tutoring appointments or use drop-in tutoring at any time as an alternative.
Fall Quarter request forms will be reviewed on a rolling basis to accommodate any requests submitted from the beginning of the quarter through week 4 (based upon availability). The last day to be able to request structured weekly tutoring for the quarter is Sunday, October 20 (Week 4). Tutoring requests after Week 4 cannot be matched.
