LCP FAQ

I would like to practice more of (language). Can I sign up for a LCP appointment even if I am not taking a language course?

Our LCP program is intended as an additional resource to supplement what is being learned and practiced in Stanford Language Center courses. If you would like an opportunity to practice the language without enrolling in a language course, try contacting the Community Committee for International Students (CCIS) or join an organization on campus. Bechtel also sponsors virtual and onsite events and classes for Spouses, Partners, and Families

Can an LCP work on my homework with me?

LCPs are dedicated to helping you develop oral proficiency in another language. Although you may work on oral drills and exercises from the book, it is expected that the focus of the LCP sessions remains on developing conversation skills. As described in our policies, an LCP is different from a language tutor and cannot help with written homework for the course.

Where do LCP sessions take place?

By default, sessions will be held in person but email your tutor if you would like to meet online via Zoom instead.

Are you hiring?

We typically begin hiring for the next academic school year in winter quarter. For updated information about our hiring process, check out our Become a Language Conversation Partner or Become a Tutor pages.
