Bryen Irving (he/him/his) is a 4th year graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics. His primary research interests lie in the field of computational astrophysics and cosmology, with a particular emphasis on the application of numerical and statistical techniques to develop models that accurately simulate massive black hole assembly. Bryen’s research seeks to apply techniques from the fields of applied mathematics, data science, and high-performance computing in order to provide the necessary insight needed to hopefully resolve questions that revolve around the generation of the behemoths that lie at the center of our galaxies. Prior to Stanford, Bryen spent time as in the automotive industry as a Dimensional Engineer, in addition to receiving his M.S. in Physics from CSU Long Beach, and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. As a Peer Learning Consultant, he looks to leverage the lessons and experiences that he’s accrued over the past decade to assist the next wave of thinkers reach their full potential.
