Delaney Smith

Peer Academic Coach

Delaney (she/her) is a Biochemistry Ph.D. student at Stanford. She works in a biomedical informatics research group and has a background in protein structure and function. Delaney is a first-generation college student from a low-income background. In 2019, she earned her Honor’s Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in Biochemistry and Biophysics and a second degree in Chemistry Teaching. After she graduated, Delaney spent two years in Belgium as a Fulbright scholar.

In her free time Delaney enjoys spending time outside, lifting in the gym, and experimenting with new recipes. She is a Russian-American and prioritizes her friends and family alongside her research. Delaney is excited to be a Peer Learning Consultant because she enjoys mentoring and interacting with other students and hopes to leverage her own struggles as a newcomer to academia to help other students.
