Leehi Yona
Peer Academic Coach
Leehi (she/her) is a fourth-year PhD student in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources at the Stanford School of Earth, Energy, and Environmental Sciences and a second year JD student at the Stanford Law School. Her research interests lie at the intersection of climate change science, policy, and justice, and her dissertation examines the global carbon cycle and how countries measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions. Before coming to Stanford, Leehi completed undergraduate studies in Biology, Environmental Studies, and Public Policy at Dartmouth College, and earned a Master’s of Environmental Science from Yale.
Throughout college and at Stanford, Leehi struggled with time management and goal-setting, and she’s excited to be a Peer Learning Consultant so that she can help other students thrive as well and overcome similar challenges. While she completed her Master’s degree, she also saw how helpful it was to work on thesis and research with other graduate students, which led her to create the Grad Study Hall program on campus. Leehi is passionate about social justice, community organizing, and science advocacy, and loves to paint and write for public audiences.
