Graduate and professional students are invited to apply to work as a Peer Learning Consultant in the Curriculum Design division. As a Curriculum Designer, consultants will develop academic skills curriculum and content as well as student learning programming for Stanford students. This division is considered the backbone of the Peer Learning Consultant Program and the work in this division is integral to the work of all of the other divisions. PLCs in this division start at $28/hour and are expected to work a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 hours per week.
PLCs in the Curriculum Design division will be responsible for the creation of presentation, workshop, studio, and Canvas Portal content, as well as academic skills handouts and other asynchronous resources as deemed necessary. Curriculum Designers will also have the opportunity to develop novel academic skills programming and revamp existing programs such as the Accountability Partner Program and Canvas Portal. Successful engagement will involve brainstorming and developing new ideas or re-envisioning existing materials into a more accessible and engaging manner for students.
What you’ll do
- Develop new, unique curricular content that will be used by the entire PLC program
- Retool existent curricula as requested and/or when approved
- Research and brainstorm ideas for new topics and/or provide additional research for existing presentations
- Create slides for presentation purposes
- Create agendas for presentation purposes
- Create and revise handouts
- Create and revise academic programming content such as the Canvas Portal
- Review ideas from other PLCs and assist as requested with content development
- Additional educational content, programming and research as needed by the PLC program

- A desire to learn and grow in your ability to develop academic skills content
- Effectively giving and responding to constructive feedback
- Passion for supporting undergraduate and graduate students
- Ability to work on a dynamic team in which changes occur throughout the year
- Understanding of diverse communities on campus (including through your own personal experiences as a diverse applicant)

- Finalist Interviews: Qualified candidates will be contacted to participate in an one hour interview with the Lead Learning Consultant, current Peer Learning Consultants and other stakeholders.
- Admission: All candidates will be informed about a decision no later than two weeks after the interview. Successful candidates will be given 48 hours to accept the offer. Please note that the turnaround time between admission and onboarding is relatively short.
- Must be a currently enrolled co-term, masters, doctoral, or professional student
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
- Co-term and masters students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA overall; graduate and professional students must be in good standing with their department/program
- Must have a strong commitment to helping peers learn
- Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
